Every blog has included its own Personal Link Page.You can create new categories and add your favorite links. Or for instance when you are blogging about horses, you can create a horse-related linkpage with links to other blogs, websites, wikipedia information and so on.You can drag and drop the categories, so no need for technical background what so ever!! It makes managing your link page very easy.

On your personal blog you can write posts, but you can also create Personal Pages. On these pages you can tell something about yourself or tell your visitor what to expect on your blog, for instance. The Personal Pages become new menu links in the sidebar and main menu of your blog.

We all want our work to be appreciated. Start4all.com created a special function on every blog to let the blogger know that his/her work is appreciated more or less. You can rate the blog with the rating-button in the upper right corner.

If you wish to delete one of the link columns on your linkpage, please follow the instruction below. It’s easy:

 1. move your mouse over the header of the column you want to delete. The option ‘edit’ appears, click on ‘edit’
 2. A pop-up screen appears, now click ‘delete’ after all the links that are presented in this column, untill the column is empty.
 3. Now close the edit page and move your mouse over the header of this empty section again. You will notice the option ‘-’ is now available. Click the minus symbol.
 4. A message appears to warn you that you are about to delete the section. Confirm your action. The section has been removed now from your linkpage. In the upper left corner you can create other sections again.

If you’ve found a nice web widget somewhere on the web, it almost always is possible to add this to your Start4all blog. You can add widgets to the right section of your blogpage. Therefore the only thing you must be aware of is the width of the widget.

How to add it to your blog in 5 simple steps:

1. log in to your account an go to your blog

2. at the right in the orange admin bar you’ll see the menu option ‘presentation’. Move over with your mouse and choose ‘widgets’ in the submenu

3. the ’sidebar arrangement’ appears. First you see ’sidebar 1′. This is a visualisation of the arrangement of your current sidebar. Below you see ‘Available widgets’. Drag and drop a Text widget to ‘Sidebar 1′. After that click the ‘configure’ icon of that text widget.

4. a pop-up form appears with two textfields. Fill in the title of your widget in the header and the code of the widget in the other textfield.

5. click TWICE on the ’save changes’ button and wait untill the message ’sidebar updated’ appears. Then take a look at your site and see how your widget appears.

You can use Windows Live Writer to edit your blog at Start4all.com. Live Writer is a free to use desktop application that you can download here. Live Writer has a WYSIWYG editor, which gives you the benefit to see what your blog posting will look like, before actually posting it to your Start4all blog. It also integrates multimedia easily. You can add pictures, publish maps and much more (find more info here on the Windows Live Writer information website).

ECTO DESKTOP BLOGGING

Why not write together? If you, for example, have a blog about your band, it could be useful to let the other band members write as well! Here’s a - 5 STEPS - instruction to set this up the right way. It is very easy!!

1. If you don’t have a blog, create one
2. Let your co-writers create an account at Start4all.com, too. They do not need a blog, because you will invite them to join your blog.
2. Log in and go to ‘users’ in your Start4all ‘dashboard’ and choose ‘authors & users’
3. Enter the e-mail addresses of the co-writers (need to be the addresses that are connected to the accounts of your co-writers) at ‘add user from community’
4. Now choose the authorization for your co-writers. Start4all.com gives you five options:
a. subscriber - you can add comments, which is standard in Start4all, but you as administrator can decide whether you want every visitor to be able to reply on your blog or not.
b. contributor - you can add a post, but this post has to be reviewed by the administrator first, before published online
c. author - is able to post without moderation
d. editor - is able to edit posts that already have been posted, and is able to post new articles and links and also able to edit pages on the blog
e. administrator - you give this person the same possibilities as yourself. This person is able to delete you from the userlist, so be VERY carefull in providing this authorization
5. save your settings, your co-writers will NOT receive a message about their new authorization, so please don’t forget to inform them.

With a resource of billions of videos on the net, it is fun to add videos to your blog. A trailer video can be added to a movie review and some amateur travel videos to your blog postings about your vacation next summer!

Of course Start4all.com offers this feature, too. Below you’ll find a 5-step tutorial, it is easy!

1. First log in at Start4all.com with your username and password. After that go to your blog
2. In the header of your blog you see the orange Dashboard toolbar. Go to ‘write’ and choose ‘write post’
3. Your blog editor will appear. Click on the ‘visual’ button, to see the icons.
4. Open a new window in your browser and go to http://www.youtube.com/ and choose the video you want to add to your blog. Copy the web address of the page where the video is located. The URL should look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WczaqwhyYvk
5. Go back to Start4all.com and click the Youtube button in the editor. Paste the Youtube URL in the pop-up window and submit it.

Your blog is not your blog without your own design. Below I’ll explain how to design your blog in 6 small and simple steps. Everyone can do it! Below each step you see a tumbnail of a screenshot. Click it to see an enlargement of that screenshot.

1. you log in to your account at www.start4all.com

2. click the link to the blog you want to edit if you have more than one blog (if you have only one, click that one)

3. click the ‘blog settings’ button in the upper left corner of your blog page

4. change the parts of the design you want to edit at the ‘blog settings’ page. There are many many options, so take your time to figure it out. Many options means you can completely personalize your blog!!

5. after your changes scroll down below and click ‘Update Options’ to submit your changes (there is NO undo button!!)

6. you see in the refreshed page that your changes are saved. Now click on ‘View Site >>” in the dashboard bar to check your blog out in the new design.
